We've come a long way in making our games prettier.

I'll probably buy it.. but I don't think it will last very long for me.. if there's no simmode and you have to go 1000 mph.. then I'll just stop playing immediately.

this list of levels is meh

Warehouse
School 2
Mall
Phoenix
Hangar
Marseilles
Venice

only levels good for street skating on that list is School 2 and Venice..

There should be San Francisco(thps1)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrHlObATp5U&feature=related

and

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Philadelphia

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIat5Oaktkw

Obviously theres other levels to chose from but they're in the different thps games, not thps1 and 2

While not good for street skating I do have a weakness for Marseilles.
It along with School 2 and Venice is good by me.
Only other level I would have loved to see would be Kona from THPS4.
Future releases I bet will give us some of those and who knows what the DLC entails.
My main hope is for an unlockable Sim Mode again.

they'll release the good levels for dlc later, got to suck as much money as they can out of us.

Have they announced some sort of AFC yet? Not really worth it if not.

Still kinda feel the same way, need more details, but its definitely feeling like a 'fun the first few times and thats it' kinda game.

If I'd get it, it would only be to cruise around in School 2 and Venice. Those 2 levels were and are my all-time fav. School 2 I would play the shit out of that level. Now I wanna get it...

And that Leap of Faith picture you put up reminds me so much of Bryan Herman... I wish he was in that game

I will make a final decision after I play the trial game of it, I really hope the have some settings to go back to the old games trick list and controls for gameplay.

I hope there is DLC, there really is no telling with Microsoft and XBLA. When it comes down to it, Microsoft has the final say on whether THPS can have DLC or not. If they don't think they'll make money off of it, then they'll say no. XBLA is the worst digital medium for developers to sell their games, who knows what will happen with it.
It has been stated that you can choose between the newer control style or go back to the original controller setup in menu options.
Tony has already hinted that there will be DLC, but as to what kind... nobody has said.
I don't agree with XBLA being the worst digital medium at all, but that is for a whole different thread.

That's definitely why we have so little maps on release then, I hate the way gaming is going. If there are classic controls, I'll definitely be buying it though.

Off-topic, but you should read this article about XBLA developing, Microsoft is the worst: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-21-making-an-xbla-game-the-inside-story-article
Yeah, here is the thread I did a little back with Q&A from Tony.
http://skatefluckit.com/showthread.php?p=94569

And I have read the article before. Many small companies just don't realize how small they are.
MS owns the pool so if you don't play by their rules you don't get to swim.
This isn't some open source hippie cooperative. This is business. It's not all rainbows and unicorns.

Hopefully they polish it up a bit. At this point I think I'd rather play etnies street skater.

That video made me think of, it would be sick to see real life pro skater talking about and playing any EA Skate game, what they think about it, what's good what's bad, what's missing, etc.

a comment on that vid, somehow getting 20 thumbs up haha

"Lol everyone saying this game is gonna suck and that the physics aren't real enough, like Skate 3, are probably like 10 years old. You kids will never understand. Go play your new age Skate games while us mature people enjoy the good stuff!"

So, you never played a skateboarding game before Skate?
With the exception of Thrasher and even it had its moments they all had crazy pop outs and such.
THPS, Grind Session, Street Skater, ESPN Skateboarding, Evolution Skateboarding, Disney Skate games, Skate or Die!, Top Skater, etc.... All had this same issue.

Nah man I'm in my mid 20's I've played them all. I used to love the thps franchise until skate came along. I was just hoping they might make it feel a little more realistic with regards to how much air you can get...that (for me) ruins it. I play skate because I like how it feels similar to real skating, the nostalgic experience I might get for playing thpshd isn't strong enough to regress to playing it lol. Anti gravity is just a pet peeve of mine after playing skate for so long

We still don't know if it is going to have the unlockable Sim Mode, so that might be a help for you there.
THPS has never been about realistic skating, but the Sim Mode and Character Traits were a way to add "Realism" yourself.

It probably looks more polished in person Pawn, I think they were filming the TV screen with a camera rather than capturing it.

It looks just like I remember, but better. I'm excited a little actually.

I am too, but I probably won't buy it. Not enough levels, I might as well just get Tony Hawk 2X :/

You know what Im going to do is buy a old og xbox and get THPS 2x. That game has all the first game levels, all the 2nd game levels + a few new ones, all this and the graphics are almost HD... Then Im going to get Dave mirra 2 and play the xbox exclusive levels I never got to play on the ps2..

The only way Ill buy the new HD ver is if they add better levels

I have my old Xbox modded and just a ton of games loaded on it so I can play THPS2x just by turning on the machine and loading it up.
Picked up DMFBMX2 and Hoffman 2 for Xbox (Like $6 for both on ebay) a bit back and play both of them on my Xbox 360 just fine.

I wonder if there's a chance to squeeze popless into the engine.. ea skate tricks started out higher and became lower over time.
If it plays like Project 8 I'll be wanting it.. that game was pretty smooth.

I think that some of you guys are confusing greatness with nostalgia.
I'm pretty sure everyone of us have the idea or plans of buying this simply for nostalgia sake.
So, I'll disagree and say none of us are going to be buying it based upon "Greatness".
Although, THPS was pretty damn great back in 1999, but still 2nd place to Thrasher which *IS* "Greatness".

New Xbox Magazine Video Interview with Tony and some new footage of the game.
Plus, there is mention of DLC where he mentions brand new never played levels and even skaters.
