Yoy can get good enough quality clips by filming the tv, even more with a dslr. I film it with a crappy kodak waterproof flipcam, then crop to 4:3 (960x720), then shrink to 640x480, with each step I keep lowering the quality, I bet straight from the dslr clips look nice.
