Nah man, it's not just getting the tricks, everyone's gotta film and upload everything before the deadline, so nobody would get everything in a full book. My list was just a start, it was gonna be much longer but we ditched the plan early on. We talked at length about judging/voting, but it would only work if everyone submitted their clips anonymously and they were uploaded as such. Everybody's got their favorites and there's no other way to get a true objective opinion.

Anonymously would certainly the best way, people always gravitate towards their favourite. Some guys have such distinct filming styles, you can automatically see who that is, so it won't make such a big difference, but I do think it will make people more objective in their opinion.

and are we gonna do weekly edits, just like thrasher? Because I would like to edit those, good ripping music and a fast paced edit, I love to make those!!!

actually narrowing down a specific trick at spots helps reduce bias. if were all doing whatever, people are just going to go friend picking again ( thats why the skater of the year didnt work). what needs to be done is have each team given specific spots to skate, kind of like how in the real kotr people are skating different cities from each other.

we use the same idea of each specific group of spots having set tricks you have to do as well as having people have to do specific harder or weird trick challenges anywhere in the game world. then you have your biggest, longest etc. aswell has having every team having to get something specific at one "meet up" spot, after that the clips will be judge on what tricks were done from the list, who did the most of those tricks for each team (mvp) and then you have it judge on creativity and style at a spot.

this contest is actually quite easy to set up because we have a perfect guidelines for it. also no CAP, that allows for both xbox and ps3 to compete equally

and then you have it judge on creativity and style at a spot.

Only thing I was getting at is telling people what tricks to do takes the creativity out of it. There isnt anything creative about it, except maybe what angle you film it.

It makes sense for real life skating cause real life skating is real life, and not a video game and a million times harder.

But whatever floats your boat. I was just thinking just vote for the favorite trick is a more simple and better way to do it. I like the anonymous submission idea. People said with the trick and film style you will be able to tell who it is anyway, but with no names on screen and for the honor of competition, I think people would give unbiased votes for the most part.

I like how Jebo said it. Dont tell them exactly what trick to do. Just a broad scope. "Do a dub grind" is what he said. Not do a "Ollie over the ledge to noseblunt down the other side." Way too specific.

Not that I can even enter cause my ps3 is busted, just trying to share ideas.

How could you do a longest grind/powerslide or something without using a CAP? I mean with a CAP you could make a custom little spot with some kind of repeating object that could be counted, might not be too hard to make for both xbox and ps3 if its very basic. But I think a longest powerslide or grind is essential.

i dont really think people understood what i wrote. what i was suggesting is that each team gets a list of different spots in the game. at the those spots there are specific challenges that they have to do as well as people being able to do their own tricks. by having some form of guideline at spots, it allows for a more organized and less biased judgement.

you can still do tricks you want that people can vote on, but by also having a set number of certain tricks or challenges people have to do at a certain spot helps make things fair. if it was just people choosing theyre favorite tricks or styles etc. this whole thing would fall apart because people are biased on here. everyone wants their friend or favorite skater to win, thats why we could never get the skater of the year right, too many people just naming names. but if you set up certain objectives as well as judging on creativity, you get the best of both worlds.

Mark the Sith

Just to clarify, and for example, 5150 would get Chan Center and a different set of objectives than say Noir, which would get Observatory and different objectives?

Clayfighter
10-12-2012, 07:55 PM
yes, just like how in the real kotr the teams are all going to different cities and getting challenges based on those cities. the idea is that you wouldnt be watching people do the same tricks at the same spot. there would be a set list of tricks each team can complete for points and then there would be spot specific stuff that is different for each team. its helps calculate who has the most points at the end of the thing based on what tricks/ challenges have been done on the univeral list as well as team specific challenges. then you can give out points for non challenge based tricks that you like

andreas
10-12-2012, 09:51 PM
here's a fuckin reasonable idea. let's force someone to remake all the spots from a chosen teams KOTR for each fakeskate team and we'll just copy the tricks. fuck dick cheney.

InsideManager
10-12-2012, 09:59 PM
Seems like the best way to do it has so far been agreed upon as;

-teams of 4
-each team has a seperate section of PC
-some sem-specific spot/tricks
-some generic do anywhere tricks
-some basic longest/biggest style tricks
-anonymous videos

Seems like we just need to agree upon whether scoring will be voted upon or predetermined or what. I think the best way would be to have polls of the anonymoys team videos, and maybe label what sections of the tricks are for what scoring criteria so we can make easy comparisons between the teams, and then award points for the winners of each category like first place 3 pts, second place 2 pts and third gets 1 pt, then tally it up for a winner. And then of course you can do seperate MVP type voting or whatever.

Ayreon

I think the universal challange list should be based of the challenge types knexzor and Skatehead suggested. Like a big list of basic ideas that we can all attempt, that way we can score those both by getting the challenge done as well as who people thought did it the best. Then with the spot specific challenges, you set certain tricks that have to be landed at those spots.

Then once all the clips are in, the judges calculate which team finished the most challenges with points being added based on style and creativity. Like say one team has the same amount of challenges done, they style points can push them over. This helps make judging easier while still allowing for each team to be creative

Sketching like Skelli - Do a trick with the wildest possible sketchy landing
Corey's Challenge - Do a Corey Webster-pop to grind a handrail
Southcity Bound - Hardest line you can possibly muster up
Pawn-o-rama - Do a Pawnluvguitarist-inspired trick or line
Cookiesupporter's challenge - Do a realistic trick or line while going insanely fast
Skinny like Stevland - Gap something and land on a skinny ledge
Signed by the Guy - Do a frontside rock n roll
Like a Chief - Find and skate an ungrindable that hasn't been done

Whadaya think? Feel free to chip in... Just making some suggestions

Great suggestions!

Who on DP is down?

Or does it have to be a team-thing? Maybe crews can also be allowed?

I think Noir has 4 members ready, or just about.

When are the teams going to be official?

the teams will be figured out when we know how many people will be participating. i imagine there will be a wide variety of types of teams...actual teams, chunks of real teams, little collabo teams, 3 or four friends that hate each other playing on an xbox in a van down by the river....whatever, come compete

i seriously want this to happen so i have decided to make up a list to organize this. its based largely on the source material with few changes to work with our limitations.

there will be 4 teams, each consisting of 5 riders

each team will be given a list of spots that have specific tricks that need to be done on them. these spots are only for the team they are given to. other teams may skate those spots but will not be given any points for completing another teams challenge there.

there will also be a list of challenges open to all teams, consisting to more open ended challenge types as well as specific "fucked up" tricks that are worth more points due to difficulty. each challenge will be worth 50 points with the fucked up tricks being worth 150 points because of difficulty. the open ended challenges will be judged based on completion as well as who performed it the best. the person who performs the challenge the best will be given 10 extra point.

each team has set amount of time to get all these challenges done and footage sent to the judges who will tally up the points to determine who our winning team is, as well as who is the mvp of each team.

Dnt make them do spefific tricks just give typets of tricks like do a fakie trick down the gap ect the non Skating challenges seemed good for teams should just randomly be picked write all skaters names down then pick. What else umm make it have that team fealing everyone can go out and film so make it have your team in background somewhere so you will actually have to travel to spots with your teamate i really want this t happen would be sick im down to help organize and stuff

If you could get this going and have a solid starting point I'd sure as heck be down. I could get some guys from Rubrix in as well, hopefully. But only if you have it planned out, and I don't mean "oh hurp a derp do dese trix here and you 2 pointz" I mean like the word document Goon brought up in the other thread. Get something like that and show some people, hopefully people get interested enough to give it another shot.

Apparently my response got lost :/

This sounds fun but also a big project.

I would say give it some time and plan it out proper then let some participants get on etc, not rushing anything.

So in conclusion, everyone wants in but noone wants to lead it ;)

Edit: my post wasnt lost after all... its in the other thread...
