Excuse me if this is a silly question, But i've personally seen some of my favorite designers raise upwards into the millions to launch a new game.
I've followed what happened to our friends in the Skate series, and have been seriously wondering why there is no attempt at a kickstarter to fuel a new
franchise or raise this one from the dead. I would personally donate thousands (it's like that) to the cause. I think some of the adults here would do the same.
This is probably just an inward prayer, But It's about that time to start asking the heads who make things happen. That's all. no real answers in this thread.

Well I'd donate some too, if the right crew from the old days were to be in control. The chances seems quite slim though, there are so many factors that need to coincide to make it really happen.
I also think there are way to few of us left in the community to get the sort of game we would like to have. Sure, skate 3 has a lot of fans but the realistic heads are probably too few.

I don't think the money would be relevant to them - EA could make so much more off a sequel to one of their big IPs. I don't think its likely to get a direct sequel to Skate - its more likely to have a spiritual successor made by another developer.

I'd donate if it were and independant developer

I wouldn't be completely okay with EA touching it at all.
But to throw the idea to someone with some bank might not be a bad idea.

Unfortunately I think a lot of the technology, the Flick-it system above all, is copyrighted by EA. Blackbox in all glory but it wouldn't be the same if they changed the controls

My thoughts exactly, the real issues lie in who currently owns the rights to the 'flick-it" controls. If I were Cuz, I would sue for the rights, ask some wealthy skater folks who were signed on to the series for a small loan. Start a kickstarter, and I don't really see the problem. I'm not a lawyer so i'm just guessing with limited knowledge, If EA bought out the control scheme then it's a sad day for the people who invented that shit. seriously.

EA.... You buy the controls for a game when you won't even make the next one. Dicks.
