I feel like since we're a creative bunch, some of you may have some favorite skateboard filmmakers.

Some of mine include:

-Shane Auckland ( Sk8rat )

- O'Shea Brothers ( A Happy Medium )

- Jackson Casey ( Boyish )

- Grant Yansura ( Rip N Dip filmer)

-Brandon Jensen ( Beware of Sasquatch )

- The Vics Market dude

and many others which I'm sure I will mention later in this thread.

I was looking for the Magenta filmer, he's hands down one of the most talented line-filmer hands down. I'm a pretty accomplished filmer in my area, and that shit wears me the fuck OUT. So exhausting and super challenging to stay on their ass the whole time without getting lens hits and cutting too many heads.

Beagle is not my favorite filmer persay, buy his attitude is just like mine when I film and I love it~

Also this thread blew the fuck up haha

This.

And whoever edit them is my favorite editor too. HSB vol.1 is just perfect.

I have to add the brothers behind the happy medium videos, since they, specially in AHMII, got some interesting angles in most of the parts.

I wish VX was still industry standard. People haven't found a way to make HD look too nice yet. Only Ty and Jason Hernandez and a few others have really done it right.

Since you are a real life filmer, what do you think of HD videos cropped to 4:3?
Specially, videos shot with fullframe DSLR's using crop camera lenses (those cheap 8mm fish).

example
(don't know of a skate video example, thats why I post this one)

As one of the comments says, it combines the best of both worlds. Some may think this hybrid stuff sucks, like a battery powered ferrari (not the best comparison, but as with the example video, it seems to go against its principles, or something like that).

Damn.

I actually really like that, you get the wideness of the SD fisheye but the clarity of the HD AVCHD codec.

Do you know what camera and lens he's using?

EDIT: It's a possibility that he's shooting 4:3 on a DSLR. I know a few guys who do that with their 7Ds, I never really experimented with it but I like it.

I'm I really can't tell. The only two bike videos I've seen were made by the same guy, who films for Volume bikes. This one looks extremely well, the other one is not uploaded at HD like this one, I bet its 480p but still looks great.

---------

To stay in topic, recently one of the best bmx filmers, Ryan Navazio, mainly known for all the works he's been doing for Cult Crew (Latest DVD coming to address next week, got on the plane yesterday woohoo), posted a workflow for standard definition footage to yield better results after being uploaded to Vimeo.

He even re-uploaded the DVD's promo with the new settings, and it's clearly noticeable the difference.

That filmer is on my new list of favorite people for sure. His long lens shots are beautiful.
