View Full Version : Session Pre-Alpha Copies - Creature will send us...

Ok so I got to thinking about some stuff after watching that dudes stream video of "Session", things like why does he get a copy of the pre alpha and someone at fluckit didn't...
I thought it wasnt quite right, so I contacted Creature and here is the scoop

I had mentioned to them that we are trying to get the Session Section back up on fluckit and also asked if we could possibly get a few pre-alpha copies...
They are totally willing to send 1 or 2 of us a copy of the Pre-Alpha, and are stoked that we are still into the hype train of the game

SO.... if we are still into doing a Session Section and potentially uploading some rad basic gameplay footage on youtube when one of us gets a copy of the Pre-Alpha (I actually asked them about this specifically to see if that's something they didn't want leaked, no answer yet) then LETS DO IT, and get into the early fun!!!!

I could care less who gets a copy of the game.... I gave them a list of 10 People I personally thought would be good to have a copy but who am I to say who gets what... you know?
If anyone would like a chat transcript of what I have talked to them about so far, PM me and Ill send it over

LETS CHAT ABOUT IT

PS: sorry if this is worded like junk, I'm excited and a bit ripped

Newer guy to the community, but I think this would be a great idea to get people here a copy. You guys all have ton of love for skateboarding and realistic skate games, that fits Session's target so well.

and if there are people that are gonna create amazing content through these games, it's gonna be some of you guys.

I think thats a great idea. I was thinking how little the guy streaming was trying in the engine. I'd love to see a flucker experimenting with the game.

can some one let them know that the game is already way too easy on hardcore mode ......the suff i saw was the hardcore mode with a grind force from s3 easy mode and the flips have a difficulty from normal mode .

about creature should come back to this place .. i dont see that comming .. they dont like when people compare it to ea skate , they told them guy who streamd to not get into skate talk ( he was joking about blocking the word ) i get that ! they dont want anyone compares there soup crate with a sports car .

I've had a few back and forths, they will come back to fluckit.... if there is a session section... as for ea skate talk, I got no word on keeping skate out of the talk

So I'm not sure about that one, but creature has told me to let them know when the session section is back up

Even if it's in pre-alpha and quite rough on the edges so far, I totally wanna try it. Watching Nightspeeds play it made me want it so bad, I just wanna mess around with it and see what happens. Haha.

Still would love to try it tho! Getting used to the new controls would be the main thing I'd be trying to do myself even if the grinds & flips aren't perfect yet. It just cool to get hands on the pre-alpha game in general IMO

Sup Folks, Thanks to emericaridr11 and Stokenstein for reaching out.

Thanks for the welcome back!

I just wanted to say that since 2016 was a rough year and we've been solely dedicated at securing a bit of money to make this thing happen, it felt fair to take out the session section, nothing was happening at that time really anyway!

Now, We are full time on the thing, since march, we actually ditched in totality what was done in the past. Here we are, 5 months later, with a working prototype (pre pre alpha) Looking for your help to make this thing even better!

We're happy to send over a couple of the playtest gym to some of you, but do not worry too much, you will all be able to give a try in about 3 weeks since we are offering a playable demo (no need to pledge.)

And by the way, we don't say anything to the people what to say or not to say.We constantly talk and spread the fact we've been highly inspired by EA skate franchise.

But in interviews, we simply want the people to understand we do not pretend being skate4 so not to expect from a indie studio to deliver such a big thing as session otherwise, you'll most likely be disapointed.

The only thing we ask to te people who try the demo is to keep in mind this is pre alpha and it doesnt reflect the final game while judging the thing.

Cheers!

Talk to you soon.

Would love to try it out. been playing with the controller trying to get the idea of the controls down ha.
Oh and i can live stream it on Pornhub.
I think that's the new place all the kids go.

I do have a couple questions though, not sure if they have be answered?

1.Is the demo the same build as the Pre-Alpha we have seen sofar or is it a new build?
2.How big is the demo file size?
3.How come you don't post on http://www.crea-turestudios.com/forum/

Excited.

1.Is the demo the same build as the Pre-Alpha we have seen sofar or is it a new build? surprise! (is it really if I say surprise?...)
2.How big is the demo file size? with the songs, it is something like under 2gig...
3.How come you don't post on http://www.crea-turestudios.com/forum/ Well, the progress was pretty much 0 for quite a long time.. I had to focus on my full time job at the time, I was super busy shipping Outlast 2 and there wasnt much comments in it either,
but if kickstarter is a success, the forum will most likely be more active again to communicate with the backers who pledged to get development builds etc. (yeah there will be those kind of pledges!)

Cheers!

Yooooo, thank you for sharing the stream and dropping by the channel man! It was insanely cool to throw it back to the OG skate days talking about all of our teams and videos, drama and whatever else happened back then haha.

I'm super honored to be playing the prototype and have done every single trick/line that has been requested of me so far and refused to give up until I succeeded. It is indescribable how rewarding it is when you nail that trick that you've been trying to land and bailing on for a good half hour and then you hit it... flucking bliss man. Then you have to land it a second time, only cleaner!

Also, it's insane, once you hit a trick one time, it's that much easier to hit again a second time because you just FEEL it and it's like, "oh shit, that's what that feels like," and then you hit it more and more consistently until you have it on lock. Seriously, the learning curve in this game, it's just like real life, only less painful and slightly less time to master tricks.

I did a 4 hour stream of Session. yesterday and a 5 hour stream today and am still not bored, even in that tiny park, I still want to hit things I've already hit a million times in ways I haven't hit them yet. This is what OG skate. fans have been waiting for and more. This is going to be a skate vid makers DREAM.

Yessir haha unfortunately the audio is muted because of a lot of the music that played during the stream. Best parts of the stream were during the last third of the stream or so where people were requesting tricks and I was trying them over and over until I got them.

After about 10 hours of playing the prototype, I have sent crea-ture some suggestions that I came up with during my sessions with Session ;)

Below is a direct copy and paste of the message I sent them, let me know what you guys think!

"I'm not sure if you guys have time to read any suggestions and I'm sure you guys already have plans for a lot of this, but your control scheme has inspired me, haha. I know you're working on catch mechanics for tricks and I think it would be perfect to be able to click both sticks in once the board is upright to stomp your feet down and land the trick, this would make tricks even more challenging to master (needing to catch tricks could be an optional difficulty mode) and would make them even more rewarding, it would also allow for double flips as you'd be able to a kickflip and just not stomp it down until the board has flipped twice. Also, another thing I thought of, was, (this could work for all tricks but 360 flip is my example) the way you do a 360 flip could be dictated by the speed at which you "swirl" the right stick. The slower you do the motion on the right stick, the slower the board actually does the flip. You could do be stair gaps and do a nice, slow buttery treflip that flips through the entire duration while you're in the air and you catch it just before it hits the ground, I think that would look soooooo sick from a filming perspective.

Also, I know you're working on balancing for grinds and I had an idea for that as well. Only really make balancing a grind come in after a certain distance, for short grinds it would never even matter, but for long grinds, after some distance, have an animation where the skater starts leaning from one side to the other and possibly use the triggers (since they're used for turning) or RB and LB to counter balance in the opposite direction to keep yourself going. Also, if both triggers were pulled at the same time, it could have a "thrust" mechanic. Where say you're grinding down a kinked rail that goes down, then flat, then down again, well you would slow down on the flat part and to be able to pull both triggers to kind of thrust you forward to make it to the second slope of the rail would be so sick.

These are just a couple things I thought of in the 5 hours I spent playing it yesterday and I don't know if you're at all open to these suggestions, but I figured I would toss you guys my 2 cents for what it's worth. Rock on dudes and keep up the work on this amazing game."

^ both triggers to push through grinds

clarification for crea-ture

the pump in skate 3 was the right analog stick pushed up.
no matter what you were doing the character would push more momentum forward.

pump for speed going up and down a quarter pipe.
push the distance farther when doing a ollie...
helps push through long grinds or slides around curved obstacles

is is a must for skate 3 for me...

example.....wallride over...
i use the momentum from the pump to throw my character harder at a wall.
i ollie early enough for the game to register a tilt and begin the wallride.
i then use the pump again to push the character to the top of the wall and over.

thats how it works in skate.
you can pump every 2 secs.

its really fucking handy

Exactly, anything to be able to throw your momentum in a direction would help a shit load with being able to do otherwise impossible things.

Thank you! I tried putting some reverb onto it to sound more like it was the indoor park, but Sony Vegas audio effects are stupid, lol. I attempted this line a thousand times and wanted so bad to spin out of it and land back in regs, but the game just wouldn't let me for some reason, was a real bummer, but still, I was decently happy with how the line came out, haha thanks man! 1 is bonked with all kinds of fucked up shit...rolling through floors, collisions, dude pop shuvs in th emiddle of shuv flip tricks...goofy footed will break the controller..
the other has a menu and other spots...better floor collision and no shuv fuck ups.

im fairly sure that the good demo with the menu will be the 14th demo...

hopefully there will be some more polish but probably not much.
all thats needed is a menu to hepl reset your controller and CROSSES FINGERS something to adjust the graphics settings......hopefully.

this is all my thoughts..
not real.

controlling the weight on a tailslide or blunt anyone notice this yet?
or how bout sharp turning when moving both sticks towards in or out, I think its carving?

The only thing I've seen, that I don't think that's been mentioned yet, is that when you try to shuv the back foot sick to do a 3 shuv, or tre, sometimes your skater will do a 180 with it as well. Without having to push on the triggers at all, I assume it's just automatic with big flips. It was throwing me off from getting the concept of doing 360 flips down.

That's not possible at the moment. I asked about that and they said they'll fix it ASAP. Your controls aren't supposed to change until you're basically out of the manual. I pointed it out to them going up a ramp in a manual and then letting it roll me back down without turning at all, it wasn't possible to just stay in the manual. They said they'll make it so the controls don't change until the manual touches.

When I was trying to get the motions for doing 360 flips, I had this happen multiple times. When I looked up the trick list picture, I saw that you have you scoop the back foot stick, basically all the down, to all the way up, then flick the right stick to the left, or right. It makes complete sense, but when I tried this for the first hour, it kept doing frontslide flips. I never touched the triggers, and it does a perfect 180 with the flip. I'm looking at the trick list right now, but I don't see any inputs for frontside flips specifically.

See that's super weird to me, I can do just about every trick in the game consistently every time and have never had a single trick spin me without hitting the triggers, not once. That's counting regular tres, switch tres, fakie tres and nollie tres. It seriously has never made my skater spin one time. Not sure if you're on a different build than I am or what.

ive only played it a few short sessions, and im far from being comfy with the controls. after session one, my head actually hurt. But homies who played it some more report controls being very intuitive, and easy to plan what you should do.

not sure what feedback they want at this point, there is so many glitches and unfinished animations, but hey, its a great start, the graphics look good, and most finished (?) animations look good aswell.
