View Full Version : Fluckit Create a Park

How about an "official" fluckit set of parks???

4 parks...vert, street, mega, and a crazy prop filled area..

we can all contribute favourite sections, maybe real life set ups we've loved skating, favourite spots etc

I'm too tired at the mo, so I'm off to bed to think a little more....
any suggestions welcomed...

03-24-2010, 05:33 PM
yea that sounds beast lol maybe we can create graphics for fluckit to use to label around verts and ramps n shit too. ahah can write like Anjo606 made this spot.LOVE IT!

blackhawk17
03-24-2010, 07:02 PM
that sounds great id love to contribute. ive got an idea as well.

seeing as how we can download so many parks im thinking maybe we mighht have an option to edit these parks as well. so what im getting at is someone can start the park off adding some stuff or someone can make a layout and everyone adds to the layout

you pickin up what im throwin down?

what would be even tigher is if they would let us share setups... like you build a sick little snake run.. i wanna use it in Threat Plaza... i could just dl your snake run and then drop it in my park...

lol wish u could create in a warehouse then cover the wall in pics like "the many faces of fluckit" then have the pics of the many of us still active ppl haha

yea roc thatd be legit

StrabMawr
03-25-2010, 06:08 AM
if we can edit shared parks that would be neat, if all else fails a screenshot of your section would do..
there this too...
http://www.urbanramps.co.uk/creator/

if it's a real life spot, some pics would do or failing all else a drawing in photoshop

I don't mind volunteering to set up the parks...I've been doing 3D stuff for over 20 yrs now so am quite adept at translating things into 3D

http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolio3/d/dogtown/Board_Meeting-1053593979.jpg

so I suppose the next step is to get a list of contributors, each contributor will then need to state what kind of set up they want street/vert etc..and how many sections they want to add...

Great idea. I like the way blackhawk is thinking.
If its possible to download a park, edit it, and reupload as a new park... we could do like an assembly line thing where we pass the park along gradually building it up. Maybe thats crazy talk.

Demzilla
03-25-2010, 09:47 AM
maybe thats GENIUS talk...

im tryin to work the same thing into the gc with clay roc sg and a bunch of other folks....

im ok with ideas..
sg got details...
clays got custom fonts he makes...

pray to god it works through stickers and shit...

Roccityroller

even if we didn't get to edit shared parks...

a fluckit account at ea...everyone has the login details... everyone can eedit.... idk if it would work though since the cap is in game... but that's how i always thought to do it with GC

blackhawk17
03-25-2010, 10:47 AM
thatll work with the gc but not so much with the cap. the only way we could do it is if we are able to pass the park around and edit it that way, or we each make a section for the park snap shot that beast and one person puts the sections together. na'mean

Richie x Jackson
03-29-2010, 09:29 PM
Yo if you guys have ever heard of Richie Jackson than you'll know wut im talking about. A bunch of pole jams, like you hit a pole jam and go over like a 6 or 7 set of stairs. Skate 2 lacked pole jams, made me sad. :(

Rubbface
03-29-2010, 10:18 PM
Blackhawk your idea is tight. I'd love to have everyone pick one thing that they want in a park and one person put it all together. Because if more then more person does it i've got a feeling it wouldn't flow at all. It would just be madness and running into other objects.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa109/nedimyer84/IMG_1649.jpg

Thats what i wanna make that staircase with the banked hip on the side........ so many things u can do with that

blackhawk17
03-29-2010, 10:23 PM
well it could work with more then one persons, but it would have to be well organized and with the right people.

thats what made me think of another idea. we create a tine little setup or not so tiny...what ever...and take some pics of it and send it to the creator.

Rubbface
03-29-2010, 10:28 PM
Yeah true. Plus there arent as many annoying people that would mess with it here because Fluckit's people are hardcore skate fans

Demzilla
03-30-2010, 11:47 AM
build a piece you like...
pic it..
and describe a few details...

then you have multiple obstacles...
rearrange some set ups to make everyone happy with the layout..

build...

would be so easy...

fluckit itself is already more hyped on the cap then the city anyways...
this could get messy ahhah...

only issue is file size but that can be worked with...

excited to say the least...

blackhawk17
03-30-2010, 11:48 AM
what do you mean by file size demz?

Demzilla
03-30-2010, 12:21 PM
example..

you build this semi complicated piece that everyone loves but it requires too much "platforms" and "objects"...

in the corner of the cap screen it has a level for each..
platforms and obstacles...

each piece wil take up so much...
so well have to figure out a way to minimize the file and resources used in order for everyones objects to make it in 1 park...

blackhawk17
03-30-2010, 12:26 PM
okay i see. but did u not notice the bar when we got the first look at the park creator how low that bar. there was quite a bit of stuff in that park as well.
so it looks like we shouldnt have much of a problem with space

from SonicKaos' Pax Experience...

"- I don't know how many objects you can have in a created park, because I wasn't able to see that. However, I do know you'll be able to save/download up to 100 created parks at a time. You can also edit downloaded parks and edit them, but if they are uploaded again, it will always credit the original creator as well as the new uploader (so if you steal, it'll be known). "

Sweet, that makes things a whole lot easier.

We'll still have to plan what we're building but it'll make it easier.

WOOOO super stoked on edited other peoples parks

StrabMawr

Design by commitee won't really work (never does) for many reasons...
firstly because if you pass you're section around, where are you going to put it in relation to the other pieces in the park, this will affect the overall flow..
there will be a limit to the amount of objects we can put in, so half way through we might run out of memory, what then? does the next person start editing other peoples stuff taking things out or rearranging stuff...

There are also design issues to contend with e.g...if there was a 15 stair rail setup with big steps, this might be only possible with 15 individual flat scaled pieces if it's to mirror a real spot, or we might have to make do with three 5 stair pieces from the terrain dropper, this again depends on the amount of memory we have left...

There is also the need for elevated sections, where do these go??
what happens if 2 or 3 people have the same kind of section setup?
What happens if you're ill or your xbox breaks?? I have 2 360's so for me that's not a problem...

The only way this will work is that everyone makes their piece as a single setup park, then these are all collected and then translated into the said park..
It would be quite easy for me to set up a park and drop the sections into it in 3DMAX which we can then have a look at and comment/discuss before we do it ingame...

taken from wikipedia..
Design by committee is a term referring to a style of design and its resultant output when a group of entities comes together to produce something (often the design of technological systems or standards), particularly in the presence of poor and incompetent leadership. The defining characteristics of "design by committee" are needless complexity, internal inconsistency, logical flaws, banality, and the lack of a unifying vision.

The term is especially common in technical parlance, and it legitimizes the need and general acceptance of a unique systems architect. Often, when software is designed by a committee, the original motivation, specifications and technical criteria take a backseat and poor choices may be made merely to appease the egos of several individual committee members. Such products and standards end up doing too many things or having parts that fit together poorly (because the entities who produced those parts were unaware of each other's requirements for a good fit).

yeah yeah SMART GUY!....

i mean...
make a obstacles....
take a pic of your tv so we can see the amount of file size is being used....
save...
swap....

nothings ever really gonna be perfect and lets face it...
the file max will be hit and will stay full as we adjust everything to fit for our pieces...

eventually well get a full file size with a decent representation of what each of us wanted...

and like all planning it will take time....
so be it...

i know we can pull of something amazing...

all i can think about it the video we put out after....
labeling spots...
destruction....
fly over cams....

can not wait to edit parks...

StrabMawr
03-31-2010, 07:26 AM
the file max will be hit and will stay full as we adjust everything to fit for our pieces...

there in lies the problem demz...if we all adjust stuff to fit sections in then we're fucked...everyone will move things about, then we'll want to move things back how we had them ad infinitum..
no problem doing that if you want after the parks done and dusted so you can have your own variation ;)

Demzilla
03-31-2010, 08:04 AM
our own variation is def whats going to happen..

i was more leaning towards...
i can save file size if this pathway was 4 blocks wide instead of 6...
that kind of file management..
not really taking away from the spot..
just making it a solid a possible in order to save space...

i also think we will collectively come together to decide the order of how the park is arranged....

and like you said....
each persons park may be set up differently but its still full of obstacles that fluckit created...

yeah the flow maybe different but i think deep down we all just want to skate the same things regardless if its rearranged diff...

i see myself recreating the spots people make and adjusting them to fill the full file size....
and in the end hopefully having a good park....

of course if someone makes something crazy dope and i need a roll in IM GONNA BUST OUT THE ROLL IN....

to me this seems liek a great way of sharing created spots...
if there is a fluckit park and something doesnt fit it wil be adjusted right then and there..
easy...

you cant stop altering but you can stay close to the original idea...

random note...
watching people skate spots off of a idea ive uploaded will give me that same sense of satisfaction like the gc....
even if its diff....
like the gc i cant determine how you will put your 54 logo on your shirt...
as long as its there im happy...

haha nice... an "Introducing: Fluckit Park" video.
And strab i think with just a little organisation it can be pulled off.
I dont think anyone here is going to be complaining about anything anyway.
So stoked.

Demzilla
03-31-2010, 08:16 AM
yeah i feel that same way...

adjustments arent gonna hurt...
everybody here just wants to share...

and you know in the end if someones park has everything in it at a proportion a few like it might become the final set in stone park...

who knows....

i am slowly finding the cap re-editer to be as monumental as the gc all together....
these two aspects to me essentially never end the game for me....
new gear and spots and im done...

from the blog.........

"Can you only rotate pieces at 90 degree angles or is there a free rotate option??"
Fine tuning means you can rotate in the increments you want...not just 90 chunks. :D :D :D

Whoever builds the park originally gets credit for starting the park, however, if someone modifies the park and other people download it, the second person gets the board sales (progression reward). Huh, part 2? :(

Am I wrong to speculate that by "increments you want" he means full 3D 360 rotation, or just 2D 360 rotation (perpendicular to floor)?

If so, creativity is limitless. Especially if you can float objects.

EDIT: just answered my own question by watching the preview vid again. Full 3d rotation, but still nothing that shows a floating element, unless there is proof somewhere else.

I don't remember where I saw it.. but there was an interview where it was said that Floating an object wasn't possible. The item can be positioned anywhere but as soon as you exit the editor "gravity" will take over and the object will fall accordingly.
