Just got myself a Barrier Kult set up. Going to head to one of the sports stadiums to find a few barriers to skate with some friends of mine. We plan on filming for a barrier video soon. So...yeah.

9" x 32.5" Skull Skates board.
149 Stage 10 Indys.
62mm Duane Peters OJ Wheels.
Bones Red bearings.
1/4 Mini Logo riser pads.
Bones (Soft) Hardcore bushings.

This thing is heavy as sin, but so much fun to skate.

don't know much about ba.ku, just seen some rad footy here and there
skating barriers are fun as hell. I have a couple of negatives somewhere of me skating a plain barrier, without the concrete tranny that is. good times

There aren't many barriers in San Diego so I'm very limited with the ones I can skate. I'm thinking of buying one and adding some tranny to it. Maybe put it in some hidden area.

It's either buy one or steal one. I'll probably steal one from the football stadium and carry it to a DIY spot. There's just no skateable barriers here.

buildiing your own spots is the best.

we've built one here in rochester (RIP) and then one in detroit, one in detroit had a nice barrier setup. Obviously more rollerblading oriented but still.

thats the one in detroit, i don't have any pics from the Legal Ledges in rochester, it got torn down laast summer after a bunch of kids with rice burners started meeting up there to tokyo drift :(

I like the first barrier picture. They definitely look skateable.

oh they are. there's skateboarders up there all the time. It was kinda cool cuz the rollerbladers all started it and then some skateboarders came up and did a whole bunch of work. kinda brought everyone together

minus the bikers, but who misses them anyways?

barriers are super fun, its the only place where having a think heavy board really works well, disasters all day :)

Roc, I've never had any problem skating with rollerbladers, but for some reason, they all have a problem with skaters. It's super annoying.

Pyro, the coolest thing I've ever gotten on a barrier was a nollie big spin and a nose pick. Haha, I suck at barrier skating.

Roc, I've never had any problem skating with rollerbladers, but for some reason, they all have a problem with skaters. It's super annoying.

I find skill level to be a major factor. Good rollerbladers generally don't have a problem with skateboarders, given they're not douches, and the same to be true for good skateboarders. I think it's once you reach a certain level you learn to respect anyone out doing what they do and that we both deal with the same shit (busts, capped spots, destroyed spots, etc). But that spot it was like, hella people would be there and skateboarders and rollerbladers would all be seshin' all be cheerin/clapping for each other and it was just a dope vibe.

skate has only enhanced my knowledge of skateboarding and thus, i can tell when dudes are rippin it and give credit where its due. knowledge is power. Hence why i like to post rollerblading videos here, despite the fact that none of you probably care.

anyways. enough thrread jacking.

I'm into rollerblading. I don't know what the tricks are called, but I know of most of the companies, I know a lot of skaters and I know how hard some tricks/spots are. So when I see something sick go down, I usually do that hit the board on the ground thing. But a lot of rollerbladers here are complete buttholes and hate everything about skateboarding.

On topic: post that barrier video when you finish it! Stoked to see that; I love skating barriers.

Off topic: my mom bought me a rollerblading magazine (ONE) for christmas, I guess she thought it was a skate mag? Anyways, I read the whole thing and it held my interest more than a TWS ever did. Maybe you can help me out, Roc: why does david sizemore wear a helmet?

Roccityroller

neever in ithaca but i heard its sick.

sizemore doesn't wear his helmet anymore. But if you skate like this, you're entitled.

I think he just grew up skating that way.

btw... i just found that video and watched it b/c of this thread, it was in my "queue of things to watch"

I think he just became my new favorite skater.

I didn't even know rollerblading was still around. I know it was HUGE back in the mid-to-late 90s, but after that it seems like it kinda fizzled out, at least in the mainstream.

It's really wet in San Diego right now, and trying to find shit to cover our faces is becoming a hassle.
I kinda want to get like...a Zig Zagger and one of those Krooked ski masks. xD

that was sick...i dont skate(inline) much more because of my knees, or skateboard much because of the ankles...im just fucked up, too many years of gymnastics just killed the lower half of my body. but i have mad respect for anyone (even those pedal pushers) that does that stuff because i know a lot of it is not easy as it looks

I think the main rule should be:
If they don't get in your way, they're cool.

If anyone wants to make that sound funnier, or cooler. Be my guest.
