Happy New year everyone!

What better way to celebrate a new year then with some Skate 2 related
goodness? I'm announcing the first contest today, and you'll find the rules below. This contest is all about the Skate 2 demo, and there will be 4 of them between its release date and the full game.

Contest #1: Best use of Grab the Environment

Exactly what it sounds like. Use this new feature and come up with something creative, cool and clean. Doesn't matter what you use, as long as it's not in its original position.

Starts: January 8th
Ends: January 11th
Entries will only be accepted if posted on Fluckit, but any video format is fine (in case Skate.Reel 2 isn't part of the demo)
Note: You can only win one contest of the 4. Feel free to enter again if you want but I'm not giving anyone more then 1 CD.

Other then that, there aren't really any limitations, so go wild!

The contest is going to work in a Sponsor Me style like the EA contests, but will be judged by more then one person. MagicNarcosis, MeanGoon and Mr. Lingo Starr along with myself will be picking out the winner each contest, and showering them with praise... but what does that matter when you'll also get one of these:

There are only 20 of them in existance, and I've only got 4 left... anyone want one? If so, you're going to have to come up with something good to win! As mentioned before, there will be 4 chances to win one of the CDs. The contest will remain a secret until the time it starts so as to give no one an unfair advantage. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

I'm going to guess that the demo will take place in Slappy's new place, which I'd say is very likely... Start watching videos to see what you've got to work with in there haha.

Yeah, Slappy's would be a good choice. Where Reda takes you to meet Eric and Mike. Should be a good selection of rails, flyouts and shit.

Once you're in the air on a hippy jump, you can't grab your feet or anything... All you can really do during a hippy jump is a 180 aka body varial to switch stances.

Shipping is up in the air right now... Anyone from the US or Canada are in for sure, but I'm not sure how much shipping to the UK will cost me at the moment. How much is a UK stamp? I can't see it being more then 2 bucks or so, in which case I'm fine with that... shouldn't be too rediculous.

It's just win/lose.. second place is just a nicer way to say you're the first loser :P Seriously though, I have nothing to give out as prizes for them and I'd like to do a contest for each CD instead of giving them all away at once. Just gives everyone more to do and it should be pretty fun.

The CD is already up on the internets for people to steal if they want it enough, not too hard to get lol. The physical copies will have the full quality song on it though which IS hard to get (unless you bug Magic enough I guess) and possibly a remix of it as well. Also the CD's I printed out are likely a better quality then most people can print unless they've got an expensive printer.

Cancelled? Nah. It's a bit of a curve ball but we can deal with it.. Just make a video with anything you've got - capture card, tuner, hand camera pointed at the screen, whatever... if I can see it, I can count it.

Hand camera it is then. I should have my new phone before the demo drops so that will do. But I think anybody without a capture card is at a huge disadvantage. Oh well, I'm just excited to be playing the demo come the 8th.

Maybe it's time for me to stop living in the 90's and go out and get a capture card. :D

Scott said something about how they took uploading videos out because the certification process would take too long. But skate reel is still in, you just can't upload any videos.

And they are putting in a small portion of the Create a Skater. Time limit as well.

Skate.Reel is still in the demo, but you can't upload your footage to the internet like the first one. All the editing stuff will be there, but without being able to post it a lot of people might have some trouble...

I wish I had a capture card too... my PC and 360/PS3 are like 2 feet away, but I play on my computer monitor so I can't capture off that, and I don't want to rearrange my whole room or basement just so I can capture some video. =\ I either need a new TV or to get my PC downstairs, but I doubt I'll be able to do either.

good behavior might be not bugging them about the game and/or demo, being patient, etc. heck maybe using reverse psychology on us by making us behave to get added time but might have none at all?

What we do won't have any effect on the time limit in the demo lol. Either he was joking about it in efforts to get people to calm down, or you'll get extra time in the demo for doing certain things in game like a challenge or something.

New possible change in plans.

Since Skate.Reel will not allow us to upload clips from the demo, we might have to change how the contest runs a bit.

At this moment, I'm declaring that the first contest already posted will run as usual - same start and end dates, same goal, same prize etc. However, the contests scheduled after that first one are now up in the air as to whether they'll occur during the demo or during the full game. It basically depends on the number of entries vs the number of people who want to enter but can't because they don't own a capture card or hand cam.

We'll find out during the first contest.
