Seriously...You think if everyone contacted the Directors of each gaming website, Think we could make this a worthy story. Backlash out at EA for abandoning a year old game without any informative information regarding to what's going...?

I have started an email to Justin O'Kelly (GameSpot)
Director 415-344-2515
justin.okelly@cbsinteractive.com

but I dont think anything will happen, it is Gamespot.

What you need to do is give everything that we can do with what the game has given us. You need to send them links to the skate community websites and show that its still very much alive. Throw them everything like videos, photos, parks and graphics and show how much the community has changed through out the years and explane how EA has totaly given up on us.

Explane that they never seem to solves issues out on the ea forum, there hasn't been a blog update for ages, also no more game updates, website is down as well, the support team is just reading from a script and not actually helping us out at all and also we paid for this game and hardly any features have been working very well.

I see people still buy the game and then they get nothing from it! Its just wrong and they have conned us! Get MajorNelson involved from xbox live and get the ps3 community leader involved. We need EA to notice us! It seems like EA doesn't seem to notice us here or on the EA skate forum so I think we shud take it to the Sims Forum and Battlefeld Forum and call the new thread 'look what EA has left behind' and show everything we can offer! A game like this should never die because there is so much room for it to grow.

Sorry for the essay lad!

This my letter to the Editor-in-Chief of gameinformer

Hi, you don't know me. I'm just a gamer who enjoys reading your magazine. But this isn't about that. I'm part of the Skate 3 community. Now you may be thinking "Skate 3 community?" Well, let me explain that to you. It's more than just people who goof around and upload funny clips to the skate.Reel and goof off. It's group of people who have a common interest in making videos, complex graphics, and dedicated teams. While we all have lives to follow and jobs to work, this is a common hobby we all share and love to do. But EA has given up on the community, and started to focus on more "important" things like Battlefield 3 and The Sims. Don't get me wrong, those are both great titles, but I really want the reel taken care of. You see, sometime around the middle of November, the skate.Reel stopped working for Skate 3 and Skate 2. While everything works fine in-game, On the website it loads a blank screen for everything except for graphics, and for graphics, you can't send to game, it will just say "cannot retrieve in game graphics". And for Skate 2, the reel "works, you can still upload things, but when you search your name to download your clips to make a video, it says an error has occurred. Some of us have gone to customer service, but you can tell that they're just reading from a script, and don't care what's happening. The EA Skate community is very much alive. Here are some websites with proof of that fact:

http://likebuttermag.com
http://skatefluckit.com

And then here some videos of customer support conversations (not mine):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wUvW-7cSKI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN7DXl1UbN4

There are more conversations like this, you can go to customer support and try to talk to them about the problem.

This isn't letter wasn't written to complain about the problems Skate 3 and 2 are having. This letter wasn't written to tell you that after Skate 3 made enough money EA abandoned us. No. This is about how we still love this game, there are people that still play it, and we don't want it to die. If there is any way, you can get through to EA about this, please I beg of you, do it.
Sincerely,
Jay

(P.S. I checked EA's list of games that they put the servers down for, and Skate 3 and 2 aren't on there. They have to give us a 30-day notice about that.)

This seems all pretty hopefull. But we can't change what ea is planning. It's all about money, we can't change ea, they'll have to spend thousends maybe millions of dollars for a new game and the skate community is just too small.
Yeah the support team is ridiculous but this is how it is, they're useless for every game.
Also if you want to get help, contact Cuz, he helped us when the servers where down the last time though he has nothing to do with the skate. series anymore. He has connections to people who might care about such issues.

Ok I have an idea!

Why don't we see how big the community really is outside of LB and Fluck it. There are plenty of people who upload videos on YT that aren't part of fluck it or like butter community.

We could use one of the free online petition sites, if anything just to collate the numbers etc. Get people to leave their GT/PSN and which games they own from the series.

Spam the graphics page on the site with links to the video and petition etc.

Between us, we must have a fair few subscribers on youtube. Lets create a short video of what we have brought to this game (PVR I will need your help here for clips from PS3 peeps) and what we wnat EA to do, and each post it on our channel with a download link, and ask people to DL and post the video on their channel as well.

Its not gonna cost us anything to do and can't hurt right? Never know we might get a big response, if we do send it to EA.

Anyone down?

We have to take the fight to EA so I'm down. Put this thread on LB and we can spam the EA forums each day with separate threads. Maybe a drastic increase in Forum posts will get their attention. Let's formulate what we want in this video.

Sorry dude, but no it isn't. Your sentence reads "This isn't letter wasn't written to complain about the problems Skate 3 and 2 are having." Break it apart and it says "This is not letter was not written to complain about the problems Skate 3 and 2 are having." First, it doesn't make sense. Second, it's a double negative. Ok, as someone who works under the EA umbrella, a few things need to be brought to light. The skate 3 community is very, very small in comparison to some of the bigger releases. Millions of people play BF3 and Sims every day, only 100 or so play Skate. If you do a cost assessment of the website and servers, there's no way keeping the skate.reel going is profitable. Sure, there were tons of clips and graphics uploaded every day, but not that many users. Even the "community" isn't very busy, just the same people on both sites contributing on a regular basis. Now, there's inter-office talk that BB might be disbanded and reabsorbed within the company (similar to what happened to Pandemic) and if this is the case then there is zero chance of anything happening with the Skate series unless someone buys the rights to flickit. (Activision?) Maybe down the road on nextgen consoles, but not this generation.

But don't let that get you down, there's still hope. I've been talking to some colleagues over at Blackbox and one of my contacts is very aware of the issue with the skate.reel and she says that part of the issue has been the server restructure in North America coupled with crunchtime for SSX means skate.reel comes last on the list of priorities for EA and BB.

But they at least hear us, so that's a start.

Heres my letter to ea, if by some act of God it reaches someone who gives a shit:

Hello, I have been a supporter of the Skate series since the Skate 1 demo. I have bought nearly all the DLC for the last two games. I am an EA customer. Myself, like hundreds of other EA customers, are experiencing unacceptable issues with the game and have been since the game's release.

To elaborate:

-It is nearly impossible to upload videos to the skate.reel. It was troublesome as soon as the game was released, but now it is out of control. This is a feature that I paid for and am currently not able to enjoy.
-Sharing/downloading/uploading skate.parks, and graphics: This is also almost impossible. This is another feature that I paid for that has not been right since the beginning.

I have talked to customer support in person. I have followed the troubleshooting guide. I have chatted online with customer support, and went through the scripted dialogue that was absolutely no help.

I have been told on more than one occasion that "it is being looked into." The situation has only gotten worse, and stayed worse for a long period of time.

I need some reassurance that is a little more personal. These pre-fabricated answers with no results do me no good. I want to know what is going on. If things will not or can not be fixed, I want to know.

I realize that in the broad spectrum of your corporation, Skate 3 is just a minuscule part of your revenue and customer base. Especially when compared to Battlefield and the Sims. But this game is hardly a year and a half old, and was NEVER right. We are paying customers and we all feel taken advantage of. The functions that we can not use are things that should only be deactivated when the game's servers go down. Instead, we have been without them for the majority of this games existence.

I want feedback on this issue, and I would like to request a phone call. I would like to speak to someone who has the ability to give me some sort of information , rather than the Customer Service Representatives who do nothing but read from a screen and ask me to clear my cache, or open up ports on my router.

Well All I'll say is we wouldn't have made it this far if Blackbox didn't care
so lets not dwell in the past.. but move forward..
The active approaches I appreciate and enjoy to read
but even in posting you guys talk about how horrible their service is
it might make them reluctant to help.

antwan, i m pretty sure telling them how awesome they were at managing this online service will help...
the only option is telling them how bad they are and make it public...

I don't know man.. I'm glad people care about the ability to use the service..
but It was never perfect and I don't see that changing for a little thriving community.
Don't get me wrong fluckit is bigger than ever now but it's still a footnote in comparison to EA's projects.
I just don't see the benefit in downing them about their service when you're in fact trying to revive it..
that's just my perception.. my observations..
maybe I'm thinking too much on it, but I think they deserve something dare I say "respectable"
for giving us anything at all.

like ... like... a class action ?

Satire understood but really the only winners out of those things are lawyers :). More importantly though, by the time this would be 'resolved,' it would be around/after the time EA officially would be shutting down the servers.

Best route is still an external media outlet shedding light on the situation to the public. Can't see a more efficient option.

yeah and the sad part is i think Ea is untouchable in this situation. They can just feint a technical issue...
Every company can encounter technical difficulties... what's important is how they manage their customers when it happens...
i think this is where everyone should focus and just tell how ea takes the money and runs

I'm not going to tell them they are doing/have done a good job if they haven't.

Dear [Insert Name]

The video game trilogy Skate has been amazing. We here at the Fluckit Forums are the last and most dedicated followers of this series. Over the years we've become a close knit community of skateboarders, artists, video artists, writers, and musicians. After only a little more than a year EA has shut down our servers. We don't ask for much. Please allow us to trade our in-game original art, in-game original skateparks. Please allow us to upload and download clips so that we can play this game the way it was intended. We know we'll never see another game. We'll never see a completely perfected build of the best skateboarding video game of all time. Isn't that punishment enough? Please let us play the way that we love, so that our community may continue to thrive and our friendships be built even stronger over time.

Sincerely,

Jack Barclay and everyone at Fluckit

P.S. - A backwards compatible patch for advanced free cam for Skate 1 & 2 would be lovely.

Edit as you see fit.

most likely garner a better response since the combined amount of people is more than just the amount of the people at fluckit
