Which one to buy, so many choices....

I'm open to suggestions, no real limit on budget and my comp is a beast.

State your case below please.

I'm going to invest in a hauppage pvr. There's 2 versions: hd and gaming edition. Don't know difference but I read gamer has a easer hook up cable. It costs around $160 but looked on craigslist and found a new one for $120

Why did you choose this one over another brand/type?

As far as I know, the gaming rig is just for the cables. So if you can find the other one cheaper, get it because splitting your AV cables will run you less than 10 bucks.

edit: Sorry to veer off topic, I'll have my own cap card quality test vid soon that I'll be able to contribute.

the avermedia darkcrystal capture card is awesome, though there are no big differences between avermedia and hauppauge

as far as I read, the avermedia capture card is slightly better and cheaper (i.e. only if you dare to record 5.1 audio you should choose the hauppauge hd pvr)

I don't have the avermedia right now but next month I'm gonna buy it.

I choose hauppage. Easy hook up (~10min) and the software is a piece of cake to use. and you get this

You can still capture in HD without an HD TV Antwan.

Damn. Now I have to save up.. haha thanks for telling me.
I was set on getting a standard def one but if I can still do HD I might as well wait a little bit.

Might be a stupid idea but there is an "upload to youtube" option in S3...suppose you could do it clip by clip to a zombie youtube acct then pull it off with any number of firefox/chrome add-ons to save youtubes. In high-res it would be 720 maybe no? Anyone ever do that?

The only way to record footage (wheter it's SD or HD) with a capture card is, by connecting it's output ports to a PC??
My question is, is there any video recorder device, that connected to the TV, records straight to an HDD/flash drive?? (A device like a WDTV hd or something, with internal hdd).

As you may notice, I don't know much about capcards.

Are there any options for USB cap cards that connect to the gaming console, but not to a laptop? I'm kind of on a budget here so I'm not looking to spend more than $50 US
