Buy a blank/shop deck from your local skateshop. It's your best bet if you want one for cheap and dont have any personal preferences.

as a rule of thumb you NEVER buy a used deck unless it is from someone you know.. there could be some stress fractures underneath the trucks that you can't see and can splinter on you after your first set of stairs on it. use blanks ( 30 a pop at most) and rely on the rest of your gear to dampen the stress on the board itself with risers, bushings, semi soft wheels, etc.
ye i will look into it over the summer

Hi, thanks great post, i've owned boards before in the passed, but always been stock n didnt really skate often. so i will look into all this, just gotta find a good skate shop, which sees you as a customer, not a profit. . .
Much thanks for that post Stoke. I'm a beginner and that was very helpful.
I just started skating about a month ago. I bought my first skateboard in April for 84 bucks. I bought a cruiser to ride around school and shit. When I started skateboarding, my initial thought wasn't... tricks. I wanted to learn how to ride good. I'm an esque type of skater.
Soon, I want to get a real skateboard. I want to start out with a 7.5 because I love small decks. My friend has that size and it feels perfect under my feet. I'm not familiar with bearings, bushings, and tools. However, a new local skate shop just opened in Nashville, and the people are helpful. Here is the 7.5 deck that I plan on getting, my first skateboard...
I have been thinking of picking up a new complete setup. My current one was bought in... um... 2001 I believe... hahaha It is in surprisingly ride-able shape! New bearings a few years ago, and the deck is still kicking because I was only really ever cruising on it, not really skating.
But I want to get more active this summer, and Toronto has some many nice spots/parks. I plan on being the old dude who carves around the park not doing much. It's gonna be awesome.

Go to walmart, they have the best boards!!!
Blank/store decks FTW, been rocking them 15 years. Not paying for graphics that scrape off.
