i like what you said, suprised i havent posted on this yet. i dont really have any fancy comments about pyshics or any of that bs. if you wanna make a game do it. wanna make a game about skateboarding, do it. wanna make a good game about skateboarding, make sure Derk isnt in it.
IM A BOSS ASS BITCH
and what are you doing for humanity? oh, furthering your own personal gains in hopes of becoming something of worth to society or someone special before the rest of your 70 years are up?
sorry, i just love to watch other human put each other down for the sake of pride. the progression of the human race is in such a decline i wouldnt be surprised if you all got nuked just for the sake of being nuked.
but nah, i do think hoping is a bit much right now.
just take the walking dead formula and squash hope and do what needs to be done. then we can have fun after, right guy?

So I was reading through the project blank blog.
How do you guys feel about losing the points system?
It sounds strange to me, what kind of game modes don't have points..
Besides s.k.a.t.e ?
I see this as an issue, I could be wrong though.
so what game modes can you all think of?
Some people are going to combo all day, nature of the beast.
Eliminating the points system, hear me out, it sounds like there won't be much else to do.
I respect the project and the person's decisions behind it.
I'm just talking here.
Why do people skate in real life with no point system? That's what kind of game I imagine. Legit. I honestly don't care if there's game modes. Just physics, skaters and environment. Sounds pretty sweet. My opinion.
Amped 2 Style Points, hard tricks pshhhhhh.... style baby
You get what I'm saying though right?
It might even mean no career mode.
I feel like contests were a big chunk of career gameplay.
I enjoyed it anyway.
So the way I'm seeing it, a freeskate game.
Honestly I'm just interested In how it would work.
Sounds crazy.
he has stated that it is a realistic sim game for skaters and skateboarding. None of that junk matter to that core.
Now if he tries to sell this to another company (or if any bigger company gets their hands on this in any way) they will have to incorporate something like you are describing into the game. I personally never played any form of career or "point assisted" portion of the game since OG. OATS rushed out a full in the very infancy of Skate 2 and we pushed one out as much as often. With my schedule I just never got around to it. I really never had any interest for it though.
With that said I have no problem with it in the game. If anything I would rather it be in their for the people that want it. A successful game means a successful franchise.

The only reason I even bothered with the career mode was to unlock stuff I would then use in freeskate. So that leads to "hawking" just to get clothes, equipment, etc because unlocking stuff was based on beating challenges based on points. If I could skip that nonsense I absolutely would and in my opinion the game would feel more "pure." I would be doing what I wanted because I wanted to and not because the game said I had to.
Edit: SG made valid points. I wouldn't mind if the choice was there, but I don't think there should be things you can't access if you don't "beat high scores" or anything...for the sole reason that skating is about what the skater enjoys, not what tricks some knucklehead thinks are better than others.

I'm not gonna do a one footed 720 over the fullpipe for 50,000 points when I play,so I shouldn't have to do it to unlock a friggin' t-shirt!
720 the pipe for a t shirt?
Don't remember that one haha.
Not like we wear all the clothes anyway.
I'd like to just say, Hawking takes skill to learn just like any other tricks in the game.
Sure, it gets repetitive, but so does everything else in time.
Same game, same tricks, real or fake, why people left the skate community, no?
If all you do is free skate that's cool.
Currency makes sense however, just having everything available is kind of a drag if you ask me.
The ability to switch between the two at my own discretion, is what drew me to skate in the first place.
It's all about having fun, and I will surely miss high scores and arcade antics.
Grinding to the top, beating every contest, getting the sponsors, topping a friends score on a custom spot, spot battles, it all went together so perfectly in my eyes.
Just make it skate well. I don't care much about graphics, don't care about unlocks, don't even care about a soundtrack. Just give me some solid physics and a dynamic environment to roll around in. I'm not difficult to please. Looking good so far.
I got that Fluckin' Love
As has all ready been said, the dudes making it for skaters. Not even necessarily gamers or those who want a progressive story to it. If you truly enjoy skating, you don't need validation or judgement to enjoy what it is.
Nobody can honestly say they thought the S3 story mode in particular was good? That was a drag.
And thats why I for one hope this game comes to fruition as close to the original idea as possible.

whats more ugly, knees all together like this dude, or wide apart cowboy stance?
serious question.
Dev Update posted with a new line...
Looking good. The manuals seem a bit wonky, but the flip & landing physics are sexy. Good stuff.

Its been a long time. Good to see people still here. Would be great to see a new Skate game...............
but this could just be some guy working with Zbrush/Maya have nothing to do with building a game. Just saying know many a people who could build this........
Its nice to dream though....hope it works out.
Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.
Maybe you need an english lesson. I wrote...... This COULD be some guy, (wether he worked for BB or not) just fucking with Zbrush. There is noting here but a 3D rendering of some animation. I also said hope it works out................this is just an observation. Also I believe everything I read on someones blog.

fuck lol sg
Can I?
literally kinda frazzled at that last statement though. really?!
anyways no harm taken by the fact it was thrown out in the air with blatant assumptions, but......Yeahh.
don't really know what to say to that.

I'm curious about demz's status with the project right now, I'm sure all of us are continually checking the website for another update, but what is demz's role in this process? How is it looking currently besides what bluntlabs is showing us?
Just some questions I'd like to see answered, if demz sees this anyway. Haven't seen him post in a while.

Demz roll?
I think some might have the assumption that this is bigger than it really is. I'm not taking anything away from bluntlabs, the limited discussions I have had with him he seems super rad. What I do know for a fact is that this is a one person in his spare time doing something that he is very passionate about.
Sadly as far as we know this is our best chance of anything happening.
Is there some form of team? Is Demz and anyone else besides Bluntlabs currently working on this? To my knowledge no.
Could he get a team together or could he know the right person to start something? Sure I'm sure it's possible.
Should we support him? Sure but if you don't that's cool too.

I haven't assumed it was big at any point in time, I just re-read the original post that he made and it sounds like he is just as much a part of the project as bluntlabs is. His use of the word 'we' a lot confused me, some sounding like he was just referring to our community, and other times sounding like he is working side-by-side with bluntlabs. After re-re-reading it, it does sound like he was only referring to our community in respond to bluntlab's work. Part of me feels like it won't be finished because of how much work needs to be put into it and he is only doing it on the side from his own personal life, but there's nothing wrong with that. Seeing it even progress a small amount with each update he makes brings a smile to my face. I hope he can make something great of it, even if it takes years and years.

I am glad to fight it out. You pick the chat room. :P
The response was merely sarcasm pointed to the fact that I didn't "do my homework"
Not sure how there were blatant assumptions, merely just voicing my opinion on it Saunders.......understand?
no response needed as I am sure you understand sarcasm.

I understand. case closed. But damn I called you out. heeehee, yes blatant. it seems.
anyways.....Im sure 10 years from now we will all be able to enjoy something similar. anything that can top skate's gameplay and mechanics will have a place in my game world.
to each their own.
Might be flogging a dead horse with this but I thought it was interesting to draw comparisons to where Project Blank is at now.

I love old tech footy from og days. "droollsss"
Yeah it's kinda sad in a way. I was optimistic that it would grow from title to title with the same passion as they had with skate 1 but it was thrown out of the window and lazily developed in comparison.
I don't think it was intentional (not that I have any way of knowing). I think deadlines step on your feet and limit your ambitions when you have to answer to an EA...that and funding. It takes time and the people working on it need to be paid, and the person paying you wants something to sell quickly, if they're EA.
That's what I try to believe anyway...

It's defo EA's fault, just look at the Battlefield Series. Pretty much died with Bad Company 2. Battlefield 4 wasn't working proper even a year after release...
Sadly this seems to be common practice nowadays, i haven't played a finished product in ages.
