Shit. I feel sorry for the devs, truth be told. Work your ass off to have a game a) accepted by the industry (because "you pay them to rate your games") b) accepted by gamers (but low scores by the industry actually hurt sales because those self-same hypocrites hating the game mags actually base some of their buying judgement on their reviews) c) loved by both - win. Then you make a sequel. a) Industry loves it (because you made so much money on 1 you can afford to pay them off more) b) gamers love it (it's become a cult classic) c) gamers and industry both think you sold out or ruined the franchise because you wanted to add more features and to do that had to change things a bit, but you only did it because you love the people who play your games and want to expand on what you had, attempting to bring into reality the amazing game in your head.
Yeah, no thanks. I'll just play.
