    Default Help w/Dazzle?

Not the best capture card.. yeah.. Don't really care, this is the route I'm going for now.
I need to know what I need to make this thing work before I go get it.
Female Splitters and RCA Cables are as far as I can get..
bunch of different websites telling me different things.
I get this for the most part.. but all I can seem to find are female to male splitters, is this right?
I plan to go to bestbuy.. so http://bestbuy.com links would be cool.
I have an average bubble front tv, it has RCA. I don't know much about this
So I'm asking for help.. I know a few guys have this thing, or have had. Let me know what's up.
    Thanks.

Well I wouldn't have posted if I didn't need the help..
I really want to go get something to start filming again.
The cables don't vary between TVs do they?
Can someone just tell me what cables I need? That's all I need to know!

Do you know anyone who can?
I'm thinking best buy doesn't have what I'm looking for online
I would like to know the price before hand, and I can't be bothered to call them.
At this point, I'll accept any website links people want to throw at me.. I'm hearing a good bit about amazon and e-bay
but I don't know what to look up.
Just want a standard def dazzle recorder and whatever cables you need to get it to work haha
I want to get this asap, please respond if you have any info.

Haha well it was not much to get info on but I finally found out what is needed.
Here's what I'm looking at in case someone else is planning to go this route.
The whole capture card thing was confusing to me but there isn't much you need at all.

So the total price is about 50$ IF You buy the dazzle refurbished.
Which is pretty good for standard quality recording, if you ask me.
I will invest 50 bucks rather than 200. For now, we'll see how it goes.

This is an additional 10 dollars, Optional. Personally I don't think I'll get this but it is said to give you better quality.
    http://www.amazon.com/Universal-S-Vi...907307&sr=8-11

    You'll need one of these:
    http://www.amazon.com/6-ft-Audio-Vid...d_bxgy_e_img_b

    Three of These:
    http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-4065...d_bxgy_e_img_b

And The Dazzle DVC 100 is what I am choosing.

x3 all female splitters (female on both ends)...red. white. yellow...
x6 all male composite extensions (penis shape on both ends)....6 because 3 go into tv and 3 go into dazzle...3 being red,white,yellow...

    thats what i do...

box - splitter - extensions to tv...
    - extensions to dazzle....

Yeah I guess the third splitter is if you're doing the s-video cable in addition.

See that's where the shit got confusing demz.. What kind of TV do you have?
I don't have anything special.. I don't know that I ever will.. Big screens are nice and all but I don't think I'll invest anytime soon.
I'm assuming that's why you have a different setup for cables.. Still don't quite understand all of it.
Time of arrival is somewhere around October 2nd, I'm stoked.
Everything looks pretty straight forward.. I've seen guys with big screen setups using these splitters
as well as guys with normal sized TVs. Most of them just failed to mention specifics. Finally found it and ordered that shiot.

    Alright, got everything set up..
Could use some advice on windows stuff to download however.
I haven't done editing on windows in a few years so I don't really know what all I need.
I'm getting straight DVD Files from the Dazzle DVC 100 (.IFO) Files
I've tried a few Converters already with no luck.. Thinking MP4 as a format, not familiar with others.
Is Sony Vegas still the best thing to edit with?

    Well, Fuck.
I spent a majority of my day trying to get this thing to work
come to find the dazzle doesn't work on Windows 64 Bit, ain't that some shit.
I'm not sure what the story is for the HD PVR but things aren't looking too bright.
It was a cost issue before, now the damn thing I get doesn't work.. I don't know man.
    Might be down and out.

Haha damn.. This just gets worse. Well got 32 bit installed somehow lost all my drivers so no internet or sound. Now I gotta get someone to lend me a computer so I can download the drivers and HOPEFULLY get things going from there. Typing on my phone with wireless. Gheez.

OK Screw all that noise.. stuffs finally ready to go.
Now I want to ask the Dazzle Users how to get good quality going..
I've made a little progress, but it's got a motion blur thing going as well as a kind of line slightly brighter than the video going down it slowly. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe71BrMnb8E&hd=1
Is there anyway around this, or should I order an S-Video cable?
and what's the s-video thing all about.. I don't need an HD TV for it or anything do I?

nah you shouldnt need the s-video cable to get somewhat of a quality you will be happy with (although it will make things a tad better looking, and i mean tad), but i dont think thats the problem....

it could be that your tv is 480i or something like that, so its recording in interlaced, which would give you lines, then blurryness after you deinterlace it (some programs auto deinterlace after exporting from it)

what i rock is a 480p "tv" (it says hd but that shit is only 480 so aint hd to me), it helps alot with my capcard, as the 480i and 360 (regs tv) i had looked like shit......

but i just got a pvr and have no HdTv as well, as long as i rock everything in 480p mode it looks good (test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn5hnkPSMDU )

good luck man, you will figure it all out im sure of it

Im gonna guess that a 480i tv is interlaced and a 480p tv is pixels..
Never thought about it. So I Will try a few different TVs, if no luck there I'll find some tutorials for quality or something.
    Cheers.

Well I'm playing borderlands 2 at the moment but here's where I'm at quality wise..
Only beef now is lag.. it was surprisingly minimal this run but
it's usually lag spikes through out capturing.
Oh and Like a doof I forgot to record TV Audio and it used my laptop built in mic
interesting result though.. might help me do game commentary.
So I went the opposite route, I had no luck with Instant DVD Recorder or Pinnacle Studio
Now I'm using VirtualDub and some other programs to convert the video file.

Ok, so Using an S-Video cable and have gotten rid of the lag but
for some reason I cannot get rid of this blur when things move.
It is blurry when things move when I capture and after rendering.
Any Ideas? I've tried several different capture programs as well as de-interlace in sony vegas with resample disabled.
I'm using a different TV as well.. Got rid of darkness and the line that goes down.

"One option is to simply record the video at 720x240.
This may sound like a strange resolution, but if you go this route you'll be resizing the video back up to 720x480.
This method works because you're basically not recording any interlaced line. The obvious disadvantage is that you do have to upscale the captured video."

maybe try this, im sure there is a better way, so many people have Dazzles without those Interlacing Problems, but this might work for now

Yeah.. I've tried a few different sizes not sure about all that..
I've been testing it with different games. The motion blur stuff is only really seen when I play any of the skate games..
Like the quality looks GREAT until the skater starts to move.. it's so weird!
Hold on I tried to capture a random Skate 2 clip.

not weird at all....interlacing does this....more so when your movement is fast and from left to right or vice versa.....

    What E said.

And if that doesnt help.....adjustments with deinterlacing could work...

If you bought the dazzle and it came with pinnancle studio....the software's deinterlacing will help....just find the right settings under the options.

this whole entire video is done with the dazzle...My set-up consisted of composite cables and a Yamaha receiver which supported video output/inputs Auxiliaries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38CkDEJ4zIQ The interlacing(bluriness and lines) problems always happened until I deinterlaced in pinnacle with fixing the fields to "even".

Is that the fixed video Saunders? Still a little blurry..
I tried the deinterlace in studio with that same clip and no luck. Forget quality.
Can you not get rid of the blur? Starting to lose patience with this thing.

I think this is as good as it's gonna get man.. The Skate games just react weird to capturing.
Video is a bit laggy but it's alright quality. Really a hassle to capture clips.. not sure how often I'll make videos now
    Probably not often.

I would be interested to know if the video is a bit laggy for everyone through playback
It is for me and you.. and the edit is even worse, surprised it was less sluggish than when I was editing.
So going to look for an alternative for sure.. still curious though.
Pretty sure it's the compression codec I used.. I saw no issues with AVI Capture and playback
lag seemed to happen after compression but the quality went up ten fold..
Guess it just doesn't work with the dazzle.. What are the highest settings you guys have used to get a good video?
I'm using virtualdub for capture and de-interlacing and sony vegas to edit..
so settings in those would be helpful.. but some software is similar, any ideas are good.

    No shit..
So I combined two points you all made.. Capture what the box puts out,
and thinking my TV Might be putting out 420I instead of 420p
Captured in 420I and rendered to AVI and it doesn't look half bad.

and compare it to what I was using
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW9d4bxAQqo

It was a quick test and I think there's still something I need to fix but in the right direction for sure.
