    Default SG's Misc. cam fun

I got a bunch of ideas to different things
I really just want a convenient place to view them

Here's 2 examples of some stuff I did yesterday

I got a free time lapse app and decided to draw. It's been over 20 years since I have done anything besides a computer so I'm a bit rusty. And I started the lapse before I tested the markers. Only thing that worked was the orange washable crayola and the thick side of a sharpie. It took almost exactly a hour. Also I had the cam too far away and it films in 480 so when I cropped out and zoomed in it seems grainy.

The last clip almost ended this cam

Hah, the flying cam is amazing. I'd have mad fun with one of those lil planes, and a camera attached to it. Nice drawing too.

    Great stuff man!
The drawing was like Bob Ross on the intro for Home Improvement lol. But seriously, nice job with the hornet. Did you decide to draw that after finding out you only had black and Orange to choose from?

And the plane cam was oddly entertaining.
The whole time I kept thinking "Altitude too low, pull up! PULL UP!"

    New one

    Legba,
I was going to pencil it (my specialty) but I knew it wasn't going to show up well in my basement where I cud smoke cigs
I rifled thru some animal cards because I do best if I can look at what I'm drawing. The bug was like the 3rd or 4th thing. I needed something without a lot of shading because I was going to use a sharpie after I penciled it. I wanted to use colored pencils for color but my son was sleeping and they were in a place that I could wake him. Time was at a premium because he would not let me do this undisturbed for a hour. All I had access to was his washable crayolas that were all dried up. I had already started and I did not want to stop or it wouldn't come out fluid ya know.

You can get some really nice shots with that lil heli, and that skate park looks like ridiculous fun! It was oddly entertaining to repeatedly do first person nose dives on that plane cam. And what else can I say about you and the brushes app? You truly make it work as a virtual studio.

    Interesting as always, SG.

    Looks pretty good man.
I'd maybe work on proportions When incorporating things like hands It's really a pain and I know it.
Making photo realistic stuff is basically math.

Here is the pic I drew from, you can see the hand is blurred because it is moving. I just couldn't recreate this with chalk. Plus its not even a chalk board. It's a black rough piece of plastic. And getting fine detail is really hard to do with thick chalk.

What you said about math is so true though. I have recently been looking into left handed vs. right handed people. I am left handed and we just found out my son is too. But statistically lefties have no higher IQ but they do think from a different part of the brain that also correlates to spacial thinking. I have a higher than average concept of statistics and I think this is based on being left handed. I brake down all statistics with space or length. I can quickly think out what % something is by imagining the distance from 2 points and where the thing I am thinking of lays in that line and average out what % figure that would be almost instantly. Dinner out for example, give me about 5 seconds and I can tell you with tax what our bill will be within usually $0.50 or so. A lot of autistic savants do similar things with shapes and #'s. I think this goes hand and hand with my art. I need to look at a picture to be able to draw it. I think I have a pretty good vision of determining scale mathematically like you said. If I don't have a picture and try to draw something with my mind only I have a hard time.

Oddly enough I realized and can contribute this because of the GC in s2. I always had a perfect pre determined in my head layout of how many peaces we could use. I knew I could only put so much detail into one thing as I was doing it or I would run out of shapes.

I didn't realize his hand was so small..
Fair enough. I remember that comedy sketch now too.. That band. Hahaha.
Easy way to condense it, It's like math. Add what you need, subtract what you don't.
I start most photo realistic things with a circle and a line for the center of the eyes.
I mainly do abstract work these days though..
I've always got ideas and I've done some decent realistic work
but it is a problematic task to get everything perfect.
Didn't realize what you were rolling with there..
Most Speed art I've seen is completely digital or just on regular paper.

Im pretty much the same way, but Im right-handed; go figure.
Im slow at math though, because I have to visualize amounts as shapes or in spacial quantities. I aced geometry for the same reason--I found it extremely easy.

Have you ever worked in charcoals? I think youd be good at it, considering your understanding of positive and negative space.

Thats identical to me. Geometry was a cake walk. You are using the same part of the brain that controls left-handedness. A lot of times kids are actually left handed but are forced to be right handed, you should experiment. Yes I have a set of charcoals, but I really like the odd mediums that nobody uses. I can't find chalk drawings anywhere besides the street art ones. Thats why I really liked the skate GC, there wasn't many people doing the shading and whatnot that I did with it.
