Edit: I only know the best settings for converting the FLV's, not sure what your capture card is like.

Well I'm working on a post with the proper output settings using Sony Vegas over on EA's forums. I assume you could use the same ones and just adjust the resolutions accordingly to your captured video size. Should be done in roughly 10 minutes if you want to head over and check it out under Sick Tips.

because of that video I rode my bike home in strong winds to have just 40 minutes to practice those during my lunch break. That's how much this video "inspired" me.

'll try to explain it to the best of my abilities, and within the self allotted time limit. (4 min)
So, in order to "mini, micro, sorta, popless, whatever" pop on rails or ledges ( i found rails much easier than ledges for starters), you must use the triggers.
(This is for popping out of nose/tail)
1.ollie into nose/tail
2.press trigger to grab nose or tail while sliding
3.let off of trigger while simultaneously popping an ollie/nollie
4.hold left stick in direction of rail/ledge so that you pop up onto it
5.if youre lucky, it'll pop very slighty allowing for change of position
if you do small ollies, or fliptricks out of the rail your timing is off, and/or your flick isnt right
if your skater does some glitchy popping (ie foot pops through board, or skater shoots up into the air) you are very close.
keep playing, be patient, id say i only land one in every fifty or so attempts. they seem more like glitch tricks than anything, but they can be made to look smooth.
eventually it is possible to only press the trigger halfway down, then let up and pop. this allows for the animation to look smoother, as your skater is not looking like he's trying to grab his board prior to the switchup.
dang...way past 4 minutes. oh well hoped it helped.
