As long as you aren't constantly capturing, editing and rendering that laptop should be okay.
I guess it depends on the specs too, hardware. I've had two or so get hot and straight up die personally.
I was also making two to three solos a week with minimal ram and terrible graphics cards. DVC still the only cap card I've got. Was Such a pain though, funny you still have it.

honestly i capture at 720x480 with a dvc170 and i open projects in premier at 720x480...
sometimes my renders work and sometimes they dont...
sometimes i care and sometimes i dont..
regardless i always forget...
