Talking bout flatspots, you should have been skating in the time of "small wheels and big pants" wheels with 38mm what is barely more than the bearing itself, one slide and there goes the wheels.

i've had wheels de-core and remove themselves from the bearings before. That can be painful.

Powerslides, nose/tail/lipslides on a rough ledge, hitting a rock (my case), reverting tricks when you don't know how to do a full 180. They're really common, just usually a lot smaller than the one i posted.
