    Default iMac?

Hey all, I am currentley using a PC and am considering the change to one of the new iMac's but am not to sure if they are worth the money. From what I've heard they are meant to be fantastic but I dunno. Im considering getting one of the new 21.5" iMac's. How many of you here are using a Mac and are any of you using the new 21.5"? What do you like/dislike about them? Cheers Lewis

unless you have an above normal interest in how pcs work, youll never look back.

i recommend the ones with bigger screens tho, the pricediffrence is not that big, and big screens are better. =)

    this^^

and one other thing if your into movie editing
vegas doesnt work on macs...however...the editing software on macs are VERY good. iMovie HD (a very nice free editing app), after effects, final cut, final cut pro...just to name a few

a lot of people like vegas so if your one of those people just take that into consideration
other than that macs are 10000x better than pc's imo

takes a few days to get used to but once you survive the pc/mac adjustment you'll be hooked

yeah i do use vegas 8 but im not that keen on it, more due to the fact that I havent spent a lot of time on it. I had a go on my mates mac and it was really cool although i can see it taking a bit of time, I had a quick go on the editing software and it was pretty cool, and even if i dont like it I guess i can just get some adobe programs

everything in this thread about macs so far is true.
Theres an adjustment period but in the long run completely worth it; especially if youre into digital media and/or music. The only thing I didnt like was the mouse but I got a nice and fairly inexpensive third party mouse right off the apple store site.
If you have the opportunity and it suits your needs, Id say go for it.

yeah, i hate to sound like one of those cliche mac people, but dammit, THEY ARE THE BEST.
I bought an imac in 2004 and it ran perfectly up until a few months ago where it the hardware just started to wear down (it started just randomly shutting off). I probably could have got it fixed but was anxious to get a new one.

So consider that i had a computer, downloaded shit CONSTANTLY on it, music, movies, porn etc... never once had a virus, never had anything go wrong. For 6 years I never did any maintenance (aside from buying more ram) on it at all and it ran as smooth as the day i got it up until the last month or so. As soon as you open a webpage on PC's, they start dying a fast death.

That's the key right there, they last forever and rarely have technical issues.

and yes, works great for running editing programs of all sorts. and once you get used to the interface, you realize it's way simpler and user friendly.
