It was a three-way tie this year between Figgy, Mariano, and Gonzalez..with Jaws a distant 4th. But there can be only one.
I feel bad for Mariano considering his career and where he's at right now--its hard to say he'll have another chance at it. And Figgy has been the most prominent skater in the mag this year doing everything that SOTY is supposed to do, but he and those younger guys will have plenty of time and opportunity to win it.
I guess I was pulling for Guy Mariano, although David Gonzalez earned it on sheer gnar-factor alone which embodies Thrasher more ideally, I guess. Maybe one of the other mags can give Mariano his dues..And theres always next year for Figgy.
