    Default Would I have to??

So my MacBook is fried due to a recent storm and someone removing the surge protector...I had all my programs on my external hardrive so if I bought a iMac (which I will soon) could I just plug up my external and use them or no??

    Just asking for future knowledge

    Not familiar with Mac..
    Is the iMac new?
If it's even fairly new I would imagine their products would be compatible with each other.
You could always ask the people at the store or call a store if you're ordering online.
I would only rely on the word of the staff for a store that sells them or maybe use this:

    dude that sucks man.....anyways

an external is kind of like your own "Time Machine" (macheads know TM)..... what ever you got on the External will be fine, obviously you will have to install and serial them suckers again

but i think your good man, if all your shit was on the Internal HD then you would be in trouble..... i think

I did this exact thing when i went from macbook to imac, no problems

Cool thanks E, and I asked a family friend (computer nerd) he said same serial number would work if I do buy a iMac and not another MacBook which I plan to do anyway. Something about Mac's are granted 2 uses of same serial as long it's 1 iMac and 1macbook
