Definitely stoked on signing up and getting stuff up on fluckit, Its nice to have a home again, but minus a few trolls, this place doesnt seem that different. No Comments, No feedback and barely any views. I know i just got on fluckit but most of u i definitely know and have maybe talked to some why or another.

just had some food for thought. feel free to comment how u will.

You need to keep in mind that the general traffic for any fake skate forum has drastically decreased, a great deal of the cool heads have left. What's left is basically the core community and the occasional lurker, which means a lot less views, comments and feedback.
Besides that, it's essentially the same agenda as any other community; to gain acceptance you need to be active, friendly etc. A broad generalization perhaps, but those who have been active the most/longest are the ones receiving the most attention.

I kinda know who you are and I'm sad you feel that way about Fluckit. All I can say is that the fake skate community is slowly dying and there's not much anyone can do about it.

    Swedes are always cool
And they make great meatballs and tan well

Comment on other videos, make friends
If your looking for views these days good luck, it's just getting old and the old heads have seen over 200 or maybe in my case probably over 1000
    Even good porn gets old

I will tell you that the core here are like real life friends almost. Fluckit is kind of a social network as well. With that said none of us like to be compared to anything. Love it or leave it good or bad.

very true and i appreciate the feedback. i guess i gotta start from scratch being that its a new place for me. even though i recognize many names here im still treated like im new to the game. ive lurked here for a bit before signing up, (don't know why i didnt sign up) and it just sometimes seems like the same group of people just stay to their own croud and dont branch out to much to look at what else is out their.

appreciate the time to comment and read knex. i know we've prolly exchanged views before. thanks for the words

This might just be a personal thing, but I don't comment on as much stuff because I hate saying the same things over and over again in my posts. It might not have anything to do with the video at all, I just dont wanna be the guy to say "sick gap @ 1:07, kickflip up the stairs was tight, half cab out so good" etc etc etc.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little underwhelmed with the attention some of the work I've put out has gotten, but it also makes the comments you get a bit more meaningful when there's less of 'em.

I've definatly seen some cliques amongst the teams and old heads, but dispite their lack of commentary, they're probably watching, and for the most part all good dudes when you do strike up a convo with 'em.

At the end of the day, you should be enjoying what you're doing, and that should be the satisfaction in it... I'm a big enough man to admit I'm not a big enough man to truely live that one, but that's the best advice that you're going to get on the subject.

And, it's been said, but I'll rephrase: There's very little "newness" left in this hobby. Sure, you see little gaps, or subtle tricks here and there, but I know everything I've done was done before I did it. I just hope I did it my way, and that's all I'm here to show off.

I go through some spurts of commenting on the vids I lurk, but it's gotten to the point with me too that I see so much of the same stuff I feel like I'm just going to repeat myself. And to be REALLY honest, a lot of the highly praised work I see doesn't appeal to me, and that's not a sentiment I wanna share with people. "Sorry bro, I know you worked on this one and it's got a few dudes' attention, but it failed to do anything for me" is kinda the opposite of what this community seems to be about.

I just wish I would have found this place in it's heyday. After a few weeks off of the game, I honestly don't have nearly as strong of an urge to get back into it as I figured I would have. I kinda miss it, but I'm getting a lot of good gaming done I've been putting off, and I feel just as active in this realm as I ever have been...

I dunno. I guess it's on all of us to keep it going any way we can. Or, as I keep saying:

Keep it rolling, keep it Reel.

I believe that fluckit isn't about views or activity, it's about community and trying your freaking hardest to fit in, if you wanna see it more active you too have to be more active, it's a vicious circle. Just post a lot and comment on everything and the peeps should come typing at you like Charles dickens on 'roids being chased by super saiyan 4 vegeta In the middle of a hurricane.

i don't completely agree with you marco, i've seen a steady rise in views and comments on ma vids since i've joined here. And gained a lot of e-buddy's too ^^
there's many new talent in the fakeskating scene. And i think the community has been more active lately, many community tages and stuff..

ya but compared to the s2 days / early s3 days (which i dont have complete knowledge about since i wasn't there)...

i mean there were multiple forums with traffic and many activities. even in the early s3 days (when i arrived) there was this community vibe (even though it was mostly negative) that just isn't present anymore. im familiar with that energy that used to be in the community. i started a competition that was very active to me. hell if you try to start a competition these days... good luck with that.

Honestly the early s3 days were much more serious than today (and by that i mean more active)... people were more power hungry...
And it wasn't always a bad thing. I can remember a year ago... seeing all the teams in the clubhouse... with their huge threads an active rosters. I wanted to be apart of that. But then I stopped giving a fuck. Most of these people have three years on me... 3 years that I will never have.

The OGs got their fun... their CC memories and many generations of teams...

But I also look at the different perspective. I mean people STILL play this game seriously. We see new people all the time. I'm seeing new teams and filmers on Lb. Jerrel still gets a billion views on his videos. I particularly get a significant amount of views. Lb is actually were all the kids go... all the new peeps. People like adam and matty are the new generation. But they will always have that timing disadvantage. This game will ACTUALLY die soon before they can do big things. Like I said, the OGs had their 3 years of comments and forum presence.

And the core of the fun in this series... seshing with people... is still in existence. I session with some REALLY good skaters that would be considered new. People still take turns with their friends, doing ridiculous lines until they bail. I do that. That is what this game is about. The separation of styles and the whole "I'll judge you by how you film," ruined it. I'm that guy who can enjoy all styles.

Hahah don't be a debbie downer, My view on it is that if you had people who still played OG and skate 2 while skate 3 was out there will be more of us coming in steadily. It will die definitely, all good things come to an end lol.

Well let's just agree to make the most of what we've got while we have it, the friends and progression we have made collectively I'm sure is huge. I've still got plenty of skate. life left in me and I've played every day I think since the day S1 was released until today, bar maybe a couple weeks total to account for holidays/hospital etc amongst that. There's plenty of others like me and plenty of newcomers to bring stuff back. I think the biggest thing is for us all to try and make an effort to keep things active and positive, if we all comment every vid we watch n feedback on each others caps when we skate them, we'll find more mutual responders and we can make it active.

Share the love, shred the love.

thanks for all the feedback guys. Be active?? So ill just comment on other peoples stuff but not expect it back in return and ill try to meet friends even though noone goes out of there way to meet anyone. hmmmmm good advise

this message was never intended to be about the death of skate. its about if this is the end of skate. What happened to Community. If we want to make this Community last then everyone needs to stop be so sheltered and actually be a community. I dont really buy the whole noone watches videos thing cause i see comments from everyone of u guys that posted here on just about every video from a "somebody" but rarely any where else. Also more people view My footage thread than anywhere else. just sayin

    See ya around

do you make the kind of videos that sheltered og folk want to comment on?...

fluckit used to be so small everyone here played a part in what was being presented by the game style wise...
now we have another 100 more kick crook folks that arent getting view because most are the same shit....

not to sound dick but your upset with no views and comments when you make the same shit everyone else does....

your need to comments and views only shows how competitive you are when it comes to our video game...

make a name for your self....
    be different....
    get what your looking for..

but if your just gonna make vids of lines and random traditional tricks...on top of a bland edit..
    dont expect much...

    note..
    i watch everyone's shit here...
only now only 20% of it actually wows me into making a comment..
    its my personal preference...
    its not there fault...

not tryin to burn any bridges wth anyone. just statin how i feel. I'll take everything into consideration. Thanks for the comments again

Afro is right..... if he is making the same shit as everyone else and everyone else is getting comments.... well then thats not right, there is obviously a little clique here (which is ok)

but I agree man its a little upsetting at times, its not like we are all here for comments BUT when you see a video thats worse than yours get MAD amounts of friendly comments (just because he is on DP or Psycho, or something or the sort)

well it gets under your skin a bit

no one here is better than the next person.... but it does seem that way at times here at fluckit

The only thing you can put into that perspective to justify it is that whoever made the video also took the time to make the connections with the people on his team, or just regular viewers.

As much as it sucks, people have already formed groups. I know I comment on any vid I see from my GameFAQs crew, and it's usually a vice versa. Mostly cause I know the guys, have been doing random nonsense with them in some cases over a year, and I've seen a lot of their other work.

I say, do a proper "sponsor me" montoge with something like a cover letter explaining what you do and how you get it done, see if it gets any bites, and get in with that group. Sometimes, it's just who you know.

i feel ya,Afro.it does get frustating..i do it for the love of the game and for my personal satisfaction, but it does suck when you think you got something worthwhile and nobody comments.

i do get comments on my stuff from teammates and some randoms, and there's always the guys that pay it forward when you take the time to comment on their vids.i've only been around for about a year so i get what the guys that have been here for the long haul are saying.it does get monotonous and i'm probably one of those guys you'd call bland on the editing front.

i'd like to believe skating wise i put out good stuff, just more concerned with tricks than edits.that's just me,i love the vids that guys take the time to get elaborate with edits,i just don't have the means or the knowhow.

You have to remember that skate 3 vids are a very subjective thing--people are going to like what theyre going to like regardless of who you are or who you know, etc.

Especially with the state of skate 3 and the current demise of the whole phenomenon; its a community based on friendships rather than everyone just worshiping each other. I know it doesnt always seem that way, but its a good thing because it helps reinforce the level of honesty here--if everyone got a standard number of comments for each video, itd be hard to say each one of those comments were genuine.

Thats why you have to do this stuff for yourself primarily for it to really be worth something.

I'll add on to this. Not really sure how much this will contribute to this thread, but I fucking love my own solos more than anything else. I can watch them again and again and it never gets old. If someone else is into it, awesome. If not, that's not going to change anything (don't get me wrong, I DO appreciate criticism, but I'm not going to stop just because I don't please other people). Comments are great and all, but I make videos for myself more than anyone else.

That said, the very first video I made was a RL video part remake. It got over 200,000 views and was pretty well received, but I haven't watched it in probably two years because I really hate how it turned out. I made another shortly after, and it wasn't nearly as popular but still has more views than all my other videos combined. I could probably get tons more comments and views if I made another one, but the first one just wasn't fun for me. My recent videos get 100-200 views on average, sometimes less, but I'll keep making them because it's what I like doing.

edit: SG I hate to tell somebody with 1000+ posts to chill out, but man your reaction is WAY out there. There's a nice medium between "pussyfooting" and flipping your shit.

Every community has cliques. It's that simple.
If you want to get noticed by a specific group or the general populace you have to cater to their interests.
Whether you are OG, S2, or S3 makes some difference and to some what Team you rode/ride for.

Video notices are hard unless you are uber creative or just damn clean for most of us.
The main videos that stand out to me in the past year are "EternalRewind S3 Solo 1 (HC)" and "Roke
Solo: Matanza" since they were creative and simply fucking sick watches.

GC peeps do some solid work and they get credit for it as well. I'll never forget TexFreeman, Deacon, and
IIIIIKILROYIIII for example because they are fucking uber talented.

CAP on the otherhand has fucking blew up with some seriously talented people like Ohmi, Briden, Wilt, xRiver,
and the CAP Faction guys for example.

If you actually care about getting attention, then you need to go above and beyond at this point so late in the
game. Find a gimmick, talk to people, organize something, create something, etc...

    Good luck.

I feel bad for all the new guys, its really just bad timing. Fluckit used to be a very small, tight nit community. Fluckit traffic was already starting to mellow out, and then EA goes to shit and we are flooded with new guys and mediocre videos. I try to watch as much as possible, but when you have been spoiled with hundreds of videos by guys that have been doing this for a while and got things dialed its hard to appreciate the average guy who's just getting into making vids, or just doesn't have the quality control/style/effort ect to set him apart.

The whole cliche things isn't really true. Well it is, and isn't, but it doesn't matter who you are, if you put out an amazing video you will get noticed, Eternalrewind is the perfect example when he put out that part with all the natas spins in S2. A complete unknown, but put out an amazing video and got noticed and the rest is history. We all started like that...

Pawn is pretty much dead on. We have been a small comunity forever made up of mostly older (not all) dudes that CHOSE to come here. These guys are still members but not near as active. They come here on cig and lunch breaks with not tons of time to watch every video anymore. So most likely will only watch a video from a friend. A lot myself included only communicate with that person via a comment on there video. It's nothing personal and won't change. There is plenty if not more new members to fill the void. It's pretty much impossible to increase views or comments in any way in any direction. Magic tried before at EA and peeps are gonna watch what they are gonna watch. It is nothing personal, it is what it is. I'm glad people have a place to keep active in the comunity.

If I offended anyone with my removed comments I am sorry, I meant no disrespect. I will admit I got carried away.

Once again, thanks everyone for putting in there thoughts. I never intended to disrespect fluckit, I was just I guess stating my early opinion on my time spent here so far which has been no more than a week or so. I'm not begging for views or asking for all the attention. I'm not new to the game, just new to this place. I've been playing the skate series since the OG demo dropped at like 3-4 in the morning 5-6 yrs ago. Only difference is I unfortunately didnt have a computer to edit my clips and had no other friends at the time that played Skate the way we do. I came to fluckit cause 1. It's a lot more respectful and chill. 2. I thought I would me more open to other places. And 3. Yeah EA is done and this is the only legit spot to be involved with. I'm not a little kid. Ill be 26 next month. The only intentions were to point out the obvious that if this is the last place we'll all get together and enjoy eachothers views, opinions, gc's, park's and videos than let's actually do that.

Thank u everybody for reading all of this and commenting back. Never tried to start arguments between other forum cats.

I'll take it for what it is as mentioned above and keep at it

    Peace

I've been playing the skate series since day 1 of the demo, like I know a lot of you have, but never started making videos until about half way through Skate 2. Gonna be honest still don't know a lot of the guys who have been around for a while. They're all just names to me. If I enjoy the video I just watched, I'll comment. I dont care what your name is, or what team you're on, or how long you've been playing. Yes of course I have the guys I actually look for videos from..but like I said, dont care what affiliation you have. If the video is enjoyable I'm going to comment. Hell, I only have 35 subscribers to my channel, and am lucky to get 100 views. Doesn't bother me though.

i apologize in advance if i offend anyone.

there simply aren't many good videos anymore.

there are a few little cliques making really good quality stuff. stuff like brickworks, halcyon, just to name a few. good cameras, good production qualities. it's clear they're trying to make something good, and succeeding.

most videos though are just a bunch of crap cut together. uninspired song choices, poor editing, things like that.

it's just not good, and mediocrity shouldn't be rewarded.

it's the timing more than anything else really.

I know I personally check out everyone's vids once, and if I liked what I saw I'd comment + subscribe, if I didn't, then I'd wait a while before watching another one of their videos.

it feels like there hasn't been a whole lot of great stuff coming out now, there's been a few exceptions, but not a whole lot of stuff that's not been done before, sometimes it feels like everyone's doing the same thing at the same time.

i get that feeling sometimes. i realize that any video that gets made has a level of care and effort put into it but i'd be lying if i didnt admit that alot of the time i get distracted and forget to leave feedback. for me it has always been about having fun and doing what I LIKE. if people like it and leave comments great. but if they dont thats fine as well. but i do it for me........ and your mum!
